Where I ramble on and on about absolutely nothing. But how is that different than any other day on this blog?

So how is everyone doing? I can't believe it's Thursday already. How did it get to be Thursday already? I guess because Monday was a holiday, but seriously I can't believe it's Thursday and I've read only a couple of blog posts since last Friday. Am behind on life.

I posted my Fun Monday post on Sunday afternoon as I normally do. Thank goodness I did because I have been having internet issues at home ever since. I didn't get to visit a single Fun Monday participant on Monday even though I was off work. Sorry Fun Monday people! Thanks to those of you who stopped by and commented.

I thought I would visit blogs on Tuesday from work but that didn't work out as planned. Internet issues at work too. Is all of Atlanta having internet issues this week or something? Our internet at work was slower than dial up. Frustrating. Especially due to an assignment I was working on.

One of the partners here at Law Firm, Inc. decided we should have a firm wide contacts program so that everyone can see everyone else's contact information. That means I have spent the past two days going through every single entry in my boss's address book. I have to verify that: every single person's name is spelled correctly, their title is listed correctly, their address/phone/fax/cell is correct, their email address is correct, and their company's website is listed. If it's a personal contact, I have to put them in a category indicating they are personal so that it won't be pulled over into the firm wide address book. Uhm, my boss had over 600 contacts so this little task has been quite an un-fun one. Thank goodness our computer people finally fixed the internet problem around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday because holy crap it was frustrating having to try and look up all of the people/companies in my boss's contacts with the internet acting so crazy. I spent all day yesterday working on this task too. And part of today.

But now? Now I am finished! I hope I caught everything and the entire firm doesn't wind up with access to my boss's pool boy's phone number.

And my boss left the office and is apparently off playing golf for the afternoon so I'm about to hit the blogosphere and visit y'all. I don't know of his afternoon of golf because he told me. He never tells me when he's leaving and he rarely has anything on his calendar to inform me where he is going. I found out through other sources. (Warning: World's Longest Run On Sentence Ahead.) Did I tell y'all about the time a client called me asking me about something and I needed my boss's permission so I emailed him the request and he never replied and then I called the client and told her I had emailed him but had not received a response and had not seen him for a while and that I honestly didn't know where he was or when I would receive a response for her and she told me he was on an airplane headed for Mississippi? That was embarassing for a client to know my boss was on an airplane headed to Mississippi and I'm his legal assistant and had no clue where he was. I actually love my boss but the part of his personality that causes him to not keep me informed of his whereabouts during work hours kind of drives me crazy.

See? Even when there is nothing at all exciting going on in my life I can ramble on and on and on. It's a talent. Just not an enviable one.

My boss tells me when he's going to the bathroom. Dude - nothing's going to happen in the five minutes that you're gone!

Ha! I have work with one partner who tells his assistant every time he leaves his office where he will be and for how long. Even bathroom breaks. And then I have another partner who will say he's going for coffee and then not come back the rest of the day. Both amuse me.

I work with people like that, too. If I'm going to be taking your phone calls and messages, you need to keep me somewhat posted on your whereabouts, you know?

I am guilty of never telling people where I am, but I think they should just be happy I'm not like a former boss of mine who used to regularly announce, "be right back. I'm going to hit the head." Um. Aye aye, sir.

I have exactly the same rare gift, and am rather proud of it. You keep on with those run-on sentences, I happen to love run-on sentences. (In fact, I wrote an entire lengthy post about exactly how much I like run-on sentences).

My boss is totally like that! Also, I am not allowed to tell people he is out of the office or indicate that he is doing anything other than working hard on their behalf. There have been a few very embarrassing incidents when, after my boss has disappeared on me that I am trying to explain that he is hard at work in his office when they tell me they know otherwise - that he told them yesterday that he was taking a family day today, or that no, he just left from a meeting with them for example. How humiliating is iit to be forced to liem, then get caught in it?!?! I'm the one who looks like an idiot. It's turning into my biggest pet peeve. Sorry for the rant!
